Rihanna’s never had a personal chef before, that is, until she met Jamaican-born Debbie Solomon. After Solomon wooed the Multi-Platinum sensation with curried chicken paired with rice, peas, and plantains, as well as lamb shank and pasta carbonara, Solomon landed the job. Now she cooks breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night bites for the star, and spoke toHealthyishabout the foods Rihanna requests.
Since RiRi grew up eating Guyanese and Barbadian cuisine, Solomon enlisted the help of her boss’ mom. “It was just, like, her mom coming up and saying, ‘This is how we make it,’” Solomon said. After grasping the tastes and textures of Caribbean cuisine, Solomon now ensures she always has Old Bay, adobo, Maggi bouillon seasoning cubes, curry, cumin seeds, five-spice, in addition to onion and garlic granules on hand. And the chef sprinkles these spices on “every protein that you can think of that [Rihanna] eats,” as well as veggies, rice, and pasta. Unlike sauces, seasonings lend dishes body-loving benefits and irresistible flavors without adding extra calories, so we can imagine how scrumptious Solomon’s creations must be.
Debbie dubbed the new makeup mogul “a moody eater,” which is why her meals can’t be planned in advance. “[With previous clients] I would send in a menu on a Sunday or Monday and they would pick for the week, and then I'd be able to shop and prep,” Solomon dished. “But [with Rihanna it’s] nothing like that. We don't know what we're gonna want to eat tomorrow, so why even pick today?” Psst, our exclusive report, 25 Tips For Meal Preppingcan definitely answer that
