The opening game of the
2016/2017 Nigeria
Professional Football League
(NPFL) season, got off on a
bad note, after FC
IfeanyiUbah abandoned their game against Kano Pillars.

Pillars were leading 1-0 at the
time.
Fc IfeanyiUbah players protested after
they appeared to have drawn
level from a free-kick in the first half, but the goal was
ruled out.

Surprisingly, three minutes into
the second half, they walked
out on the game, reportedly
because of an order from a
top official of the club.

"This
is a disgrace," Pillars coach Kadiri Ikhana said. "But we
must commend the Kano fans
that they did not allow hell to
break loose as a result of
Ifeanyi Ubah abandoning this
game." Governor of Kano State,
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,
chairman of the League
Management Company (LMC),
Shehu Dikko and some NFF
executive were present at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
